Even though this trail is on the busy Guanella Pass, it gets a bit overlooked as folks head up for the other trails and activities up Guanella. The Silverdale Heritage is a small trail system with a creek running through it and is a quiet, lovely place to explore with kids.

The trails are mostly wide and flat so ideal for tiny tots, grandparents in town, etc. There are even a few bridges and trail teepees which my kids LOVE. You can play a game to find them on the trail. This trail has a few aspen groves as well and is one of my favorites for kids in the fall.

TRAIL TIPS

  • Download the map. It’s easy to get turned around in this trail system so make sure you have your AllTrails map up or take a picture of the map at the trailhead.

  • Be prepared to get wet! Lots of water here so if your kids are like mine and beeline for the creek, extra clothes and water shoes would be a good idea.

MAKE A DAY OF IT

  • Clear Lake. We typically take our paddle boards up to Clear Lake after Silverdale + have a picnic. It’s a beautiful little lake just 5 minutes away.

  • Guanella Pass Summit. You can also drive all the way to the Guanella Pass Summit if you keep going on Guanella Pass Road. It’s stunning up there and a great photo opp. The road to the summit is typically open Memorial Day to Thanksgiving.

  • Cabin Creek Brewery. This brewery in Georgetown is another great stop while you’re over here - they have tasty food and you can enjoy a beer in peace while the kids play on the lakeshore right next to the outdoor patio.
